Care Home Categories: Nursing and Residential
Parc-y-Llyn is uniquely situated in it's own grounds in the beautiful and peaceful countryside of Pembrokeshire.
Our aim at all times is to create a relaxed atmosphere in Parc-y-Llyn, where residents feel relaxed and content.
We try and provide the extra care which some of our residents need and appreciate, thus making it possible for us to continue our long term care.
The residents' families and friends are encouraged to regard themselves as completely at home in all respects whilst visiting their loved ones.
Our Philosophy of Care.
Parc-y-Llyn Nursing and Rest Home provides on a 24 hourly basis, sympathetic nursing care in a homely environment, whilst preserving maximum independence and dignity for all residents and giving understanding, support and advice to relatives. Many of our care assistants speak Welsh enabling our Welsh speakers to use their native language on a daily basis.Â
Our holistic approach identifies the individual needs of each resident, respecting their opinions and beliefs with regard to race, gender, cultural and religious sensitivity, and respect of human rights.
The nursing care of all our residents is of paramount importance to Parc-y-Llyn and our team of nurses and carers. We welcome the opportunity to include relatives in the care planning procedures of the residents, so agreements can be made for their programme of care if they so wish. This may involve contracting other agencies (Social Services or the Local Health Board) as appropriate.
Aims and Objectives
To provide a safe environment for residents using risk assessment tools. To allow residents to develop individuality. To provide privacy as and when required to encourage resident choice. To provide activities to suit individual needs. To provide a choice of dietary requirements. To provide external services as and when required. To provide care plans for each resident.
Staff
Parc-y-Llyn has a commited and caring staff who receive a comprehensive induction programme, followed by ongoing training and development.
Menus and Meals
Each day we offer a different menu and cater for special dietary requirements. Breakfast is served in bedrooms, with dinner and supper normally served in the dining room/ lounges or the residents own room, enabling the care staff to meet the individual needs of the residents.
Bedrooms
Each resident has his or her own private bedroom, although we do have a few double bedrooms allowing partners to be in the same room. Whilst these bedrooms are fully furnished we encourage residents to bring small items of their own if they wish. All rooms are equipped with a call bell system and hot/cold water. Television points are available in each room and a personal telephone can also be installed in accordance with British Telecom.
Other Facilities
A lift is available to the first floor of the house. There are TV's in each lounge and smaller quiet areas for visitors. A daily paper is delivered by arrangement. Hairdressing, chiropody, dentists and opticians are available on request.
We have an exciting array of activities at the home and encourage participation by both residents and their visitors. A full list of our activities is available to all residents and our Activities Coordinator provides nail and skin care on a regular basis. The residents enjoy weekly visits from Simba our companion dog and outings to various beauty spots within Pembrokeshire.
Within the grounds Parc-y-Llyn have a nostalgic cinema, pub and local shop facility. We are currently in the process of developing an on-site cafe as an additional space for relatives and friends to visit.
