At Cysgod Y Coed we place the rights of residents at the forefront of our philosophy of care. We seek to advance these rights in all aspects of the environment and the services we provide and to encourage our residents to exercise their rights to the full. Llanilar is situated just 6 miles from Aberystwyth and is in a lovely rural setting, with several walks nearby, many of which are flat and easily accessible. The village offers many local amenities, including a shop, church, chapel, community centre, senior citizen’s group. There are buses to Aberystwyth several times a day. There is a doctor’s surgery in Llanilar, they have their own dispensary, and the district nurses based there visit the home when required to attend to any nursing needs, such as changing dressings, catheters, blood tests etc. There are three further doctor’s surgeries in Aberystwyth: Church Surgery, Ystwyth Medical Group, and Padarn Surgery. Cysgod Y Coed Ltd has been owned by Miss Nerys Richards since October 2005 and is the Responsible Individual and Service Provider. It is managed by Mrs Tegwen Richards who holds the required NVQ level 4 qualifications. She has over 25 years experience in caring for the elderly. Our Deputy Manager Dwynwen James has worked at the home for over 20 years. She holds NVQ in adult care up to level 4, and has completed her QCF level 5
